URGENT CALL FOR ACTION.
We’re getting reports that The People’s Library at Occupy Wall Street is under siege. We have so far been told that police are moving in to sieze the books. Update: We’re being told that the tents protecting our books are down, but they have not yet seized books.
We’ll update as we get more information. In the meantime, please call:

Ask that the Mayor and NYPD respect the free and open community library in Zucotti park and that they do not attempt to take the books from the people or interfere in the operation of the library in any way, including removal of our tents and tarps. Please remind them that any action they take against the library puts the cultural and historical artifacts contained in the library at risk.

The People’s Library greatly appreciates all those who came to help today.
In the end, we felt that compliance with the police to remove a tent was the best course of action.
Large opaque structures trouble the NYPD. And steps are being taken to improve the Peoples Library with more transparent structures.
All I can think is, if they have so much trouble with large opaque structures, why aren’t they down the street dismantling wall street…

I’m from France and I support you a hundred percent. People’s library is important and should be respect.
Do they have an incinerator somewhere they intend to send them to?
Fucking pigs, disrespecting people’s rights!
How could they!? This is bloody awful, and I can barely fathom why they would want to take the people’s books of all things. :/
It is looking like it could be a false alarm. We’re still trying to sort out what is going on from those onsite. More details soon.
